Audmax started in 1993, the typical story, single mom needs to diversify income right?
Well, since then we have grown and accomplished:
programs, partnerships, funding. All for newcomers, seniors, youth, community development, BIPOC networks and small business capacity… shall we continue?
enriching Black and BIPOC networks, providing training to over 1000 newcomer women who are now managers and executives shall we continue?
10 years working in federal correctional facilities throughout Ontario, 12 years providing Training to the Ontario government employees, with over 2500 in remote communities, shall we continue?
Like many companies that have grown in Canada, Audmax has humble beginnings. A mother and son duo who cleaned office buildings to make extra money. Maxcine used her skills to develop resumes for York University alumni women of colour.
By now, Maxcine Telfer had successfully positioned Audmax to receive funding from [what was then] Human Resources Development Canada with the support of MP Jean Augustine. Together, they were able to train and place 4000 woman over a 6 year period, as the only program in the area geared towards BIPOC women. The Immigration and settlement assistance program would follow.
Working all night to finish a proposal, waking up early the next morning to drive to Kingston ON to submit, all paid of. From 2010 to 2017, Audmax delivered the Enhnocultural program across 13 federal correctional institutions across ON. Learn more here
Like most other BIPOC businesses, COVID forced us to take a look at the sustainability of our community’s economic realities. Not just profits and investment, but access to services, distribution of income and employment, and local return on investment. Audmax Inc now consults policy makers on these decisions.
My staff were blown away by the Art and Science of Safe Food, you can see how much they've learned in how little I need to supervise them now.
